Use clean, dry hands. Handle the outer edge and centre-label area, support the record securely and avoid touching the grooves. Work above a clear surface rather than balancing it over other records.
Taking a record out of the sleeve
Keep the sleeve steady and support the disc as it comes out. Avoid dragging fingernails across the playing surface or allowing the record to fall against the sleeve edge. Do not force a tight or damaged inner sleeve.
Placing it on the player
Hold the outer edges, align the centre hole with the spindle and lower the record gently onto the platter or mat. Follow your player’s instructions and keep hands clear of the stylus.
After the side finishes
Use the player’s controls or cueing mechanism as instructed, then handle the record by the edges when turning it over. Return a clean, dry record to its inner sleeve and jacket after use.
In dusty or humid Indian homes
Keep the playing area clear and avoid leaving a disc exposed longer than necessary. Store records upright, away from direct sunlight and damp walls. Use the care guide for cleaning advice appropriate to the record material.
